ErieMoms

We have four children and more of everything than we need! In my babysteps I foolishly and in frustration just give or throw stuff away when our family could use a few bucks. What do I do with the many, many, many (i'm talking almost 100) card games, board games, etc. that we're drowning in? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. p.s. I hate having yard sales.

I have found that giving items to a church is a good way ot off load some of the items you are drowning in and you know that they will take good care of it and if you have a lot of books hanging around the house you can donate to libraries, just call them 1st.
Look into donating the games to elementary schools. They're always looking for games to play when the weather is too bad to go our for recess.
Maybe we should organize an ErieMoms yard sale ...
I am the owner of Milestones Quality Children's Consignment. Go to www.milestonesconsignment.com for details on how our consignment works.
Milestones is a great idea and a wonderful store!
Donations made to the salvation army can be tax deductable. I take my husbands old suits in and they just have me fill out the donation and condition. I get a copy of the slip to take home to hubby. I assume he passes it on to our accountant. It seems I remember hearing that there is a website some where, maybe though the salvation army or through the IRS where you can find a dollar amount that the donation is worth, probably a third of the cost when new. maybe someone else can fill in more details.

I also use Freecycle.org ALot I can give away my old stuff and sometimes pick up things other people are done with that my kids might like. i'm not making cash but at least it is going to good use and I can ask for my wants and sometimes get them.

Another thought would be craigs list or i think there is a yahoo group fleamarketof erie county. that way you could get a few dollars and not have to have a whole yardsale.

I love the idea of a ErieMom's yard sale or swap meet. I'm not in a good location for having a sale of my own and haven't been successful in teaming up with anyone else. This would be so fun, ..... if someone else organizes it.
