I'm working on a piece about gifts kids can make for their dads for Father's Day & I'm wondering...do any of you make homemade Fathers' Day gifts? Do the dads in your life prefer them? What's the appeal of homemade crafty gifts?

I'd like to quote you, so give me your full name, age and the area you live in (Fairview, Millcreek, etc.). Also tell me how many kids you have & their ages. If you don't want to post all that here..email me at heather.cass@timesnews.com.

Hurry, I need to hear from you by Tuesday at noon!

Oh...and DADS are more than welcome to chime in! What do you WANT for Father's Day???
Hi Heather! My mother in law makes the strangest gifts for every occasion, including fathers day. I am sure when she starts the project it is supposed to look one way but by the time she is finished it is so far from what it is supposed to be it looks hideous!! For example, she made chair covers for our dining room... to save $4.00 at Walmart... they look like gigantic sails with shoe strings. (that is what she used to gather the extra)

Since my husband grew up with her weird homemade gifts, he does not care too much for them so I try not to encourage my two daughters to make too much.

My daughters are 7 and 5, we are a military family stationed in Kansas, my husband is from Erie PA, and his family is from Eire and North East.
that's hysterical! I have a few mother-in-law gift stories of my own, but they involve really bad store-bought gifts!
