Does anyone know where newer moms get together?

I am a mom to a little girl born 2-23-12 and am looking for other mothers with similar age children to get together with for play dates, and mommy talk ! I am a new mom who is a bit older and doesn't have any friends with young kids (YET!)

Trinity Lutheran Church (38th and State) has a standing playdate the second Tuesday of each month. It is from 9am to 10am for ages 0-3 in the newly updated church nursery. This is in addition to the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group that meets there the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 630p - 8p. Check out the Facebook page if you are interested. The group is still growing so we would love to see you! There are also separate MOPS playdates throughout the year to accommodate working moms.

HI.  I know I am late in the game replying to your message however, I would be writing the same as your post right now.  I was wondering if you had any luck in finding a group or new moms to meet up with.  I am an older mom with an almost "6 month" old baby girl..  I'd love to hear if you had any luck with your endeavor.

Hello ladies.... I haven't been on this site in ages but recently my husband took a position working 1n/out of town, so I'm a working mom with a 3 year old in a town with no contact with kids (my daughters age). I was reading your post and I can seriously relate.  I am now 42 with a 6 month old little girl.  I do have two stepdaughters (13 and 14yrs) , but this is my first little girl  of my own.  It  has been very difficult for me to find women my age with little ones.  Although, my little girl isn't ready for a "play date" per se, I could really benefit from some new friends in the area that are in similar situations as myself.  I am also even thinking like Diana in the respect that what will I do when it comes time for her parties as well.  I am in Erie, closer to Harborcreek area.  I also know there must be lots of women out there in the same age range that are feeling the same way!

I am a soon to be 40 year old with a 3 year old daughter and a step mom to a 24 year old and 16 year old. As a bonus I am also a grandmother to a wonderful 4 year old little boy. I moved to Erie 4 years ago and worked from home until last year. Meeting ladies my age with little kids has been difficult for me too.  I would be open to get together seeing that I'm close to your area....

Thanks for responding.  That sounds like it would be great!  Hope you came from an area drearier than Erie!  LOL.  You've really got a realm of experiences going on with all age groups!  The only thing I have next to the two stepdaughters and my own is that I taught a wide age range of kids for many years!  Lucky I still wanted my own after that!  LOL.  Seriously, I waited a very long time to be a mom, just want someone at the same level to share it with (outside of my husband, of course!).  A female, better yet, an adult female!

A Saturday get together sometime would be fantastic!   I know how we women are...we talk and talk then get overwhelmed, busy, and it's hard to follow through.  We should do this!  Are we all in the same area?  I'm near Harborcreek, Tricia is in Millcreek?, and Diana in Edinboro if I'm correct.  Where are you Jennifer?  I could sure use some quality female friendships and time out!  All our names are confusing me.  I keep trying to keep track of who is who and who has what child?  We ought to form our own group...there's enough other groups out there catering to alot of younger moms. 

 

Hope to hear back from someone :) soon! 

BTW is it ok that my daughter is only 6 plus months old so she's not yet in the real "play" stage.

Michelle -- I'm in Millcreek near McDowell. And yes even though at 6 mo there may not be a lot of playing lets be honest the play dates are as much for us as for them... We can be the mature moms club... Gosh at Walmart I was told my GRANDDAUGHTER was soo cute..

Oh, Jennifer that's disgusting.  I think I'd have to put that person in their place REAL QUICK who called me a grandma!  LOL.   Are you interested in getting together sometime.  Seems like the four of us are in close enough proximity.  I'm starting swim lessons with my little one, gosh I hope no one thinks I'm her "grandma".  Never even dawned on me!  I'm prepared to be the oldest mom.  I don't mind, I think us women have alot of wisdom and just think of all we know to offer our children vs the younger naive women.   Hopefully we can get together soon!  maybe after Easter?  I don't know what happened to Tricia and Diana?

I am so glad that we are all chatting and planning to get together. I also live in Harborcreek and work (full time) during the day. I would love a Saturday get together! Maybe we could pick a place and all meet after Easter so we can talk instead of messaging :-) Maybe the Children's Museum - this would be good for kids of all ages....

I had to laugh at the grama comment seeing that I turn 40 next month and I'm a Gramma! LOL (My daughter is younger than my grandson!)
