ErieMoms

Hi,
We just arrived in Erie last week and we don't know anything about the area. I wondered if anyone had any suggestions for good playgrounds in the area. Thanks!

There are a ton. I personally like the playgrounds at Frontier park and Liberty park. But like I said...there are a ton to choose from.
Depends on where you live. I'm on the west side, so I visit Millcreek's Vernondale School and Fairview Elementary.
McKean Rec Park is a very nice park with covered picnic areas, acres of grass, a nice one-mile paved track for walking-jogging-skating-bike riding etc, baseball fields, soccer fields.
In Erie I would say the 2 best parks are Frontier Park on West 6th between Weschler & Greengarden area. Or Liberty Park which is off the bayfront highway, at the Pepsi Ampitheater. It's on the North side of the BayFront Pkwy just a bit after Cranberry Street. Follow signs to Sloppy Duck, it's right by there! Have fun!
Usually the gradeschools have decent parks. I like the McKean Community Park, Frontier Park, Liberty Park, and the McKean Elementary School Park, myself. Zuck Park is nice, too. That's at the corner of Zuck and Grandview. It's almost entirely covered by trees. I think there's also Scott Park (hard to remember), not far from Presque Isle, on Rt. 5. There's also Avalon Park, which is more open- I don't think there are any swings or anything. The Grandview Elementary park is nice, too.
Ya it really does depend on what area of erie you are in. definately liberty park and frontier are great. We are close to I-90 in summit township and like the Mckean park mentioned. Also Asbury park is nice for walking trails. hubby takes kids there to walk the trails and run out some energy.
The Robinson grade school which is summit township (fort lebeouf school district) just south of I-90 has a nice playground actually 2 one on the side of school and a bigger one in the back
The one right next to the Erie Zoo is really nice. It has different sized equiptment, picnic pavilions and restrooms.
