I took my kids down to the Dock to feed the birds today and one of the fishermen came over and said I'd better be careful because they posted no feeding the birds signs and have been handing out $25 fines for anyone caught.

This is really annoying to me that we can't even come downtown and feed the ducks? More rights being taken away every day. Especially our rights to enjoy our lake. The city, private housing, private boat clubs and businesses own so much of the lake property as it is soon we will be charged to go on the Penninsula!

Can anyone verify the fines for feeding the birds? I don't recall the signs saying anything about a fine but I could have read it wrong I was not very happy when I found out.

I did read about the change in laws and resulting fines on the dock a couple of years ago in the Times-News:( We take bread and feed the birds at the following places:Wegmans at the airport (but be careful it can cause a traffic jam when the geese cross to get to the field) and across from Beach 7 at the playground. The geese live on the pond and will walk right up to you:) Shoes are a must because the ground is "messy" from the geese! Also- you can take bread out to Linesville and the spillway and feed the carp....the birds "walk" on the fish. Last year they banned people from bringing their own bread there but the outcry was so overwhelming that you can now bring your own bread.
